GacoPatch is a flashing grade, stand-alone silicone roof patch designed to be installed in a single application without reinforcement on a variety of substrates. It goes on as a thick, caulk-like material and stays flexible for the long term.
In most cases GacoPatch is a one-step application, reducing labour time and eliminating the cost of primers and top coats. It contains no asphalts or acrylics, stays flexible even under ponding water, and is UV stable so it will not chalk or crack.
⚠️ IMPORTANT COVERAGE NOTICE:
Coverage depends on the repair, not roof area. Apply at a minimum 3.2 mm wet thickness and spread at least 76 mm in all directions from the affected area, which gives approximately 1.1 m² per 3.8 L. A 7.6 L pail therefore covers about 2.2 m² of patch. Application rate is job-specific and extra material may be needed.
Why Contractors Choose GacoPatch:
- One-Step Repair: Installed in a single application without reinforcement in most cases.
- Permanently Flexible: Stays flexible even under ponding water, with excellent colour retention and UV resistance.
- No Top Coat Required: UV stable. It is only intended to be covered by GacoFlex silicone roof coatings.
- Quick to Weather: At 3.2 mm, 24°C and 55% RH it is tack-free in 4 hours, rain-safe in 60 minutes and fully cured in 40 hours.
Ideal Applications & Substrates:
- Cracks & Joints: Surface cracks, control joints and coping joints (these may require sacrificial tape).
- Gutters & Penetrations: Gutter seams, membrane pinholes, rain collars and fish mouths.
- Pitch Pans: Use as pitch pan filler.
- Wide Substrate Range: Aged asphalt (APP, SBS, smooth built-up and mineral cap sheets), aged single-ply, concrete, metal, sprayed polyurethane foam and most existing coatings.
🛠️ SUBSTRATE & PRIMING SPECIFICATIONS:
- Primer: None normally required over approved substrates, but adhesion tests are recommended. Existing silicone coatings should not be primed.
- Asphaltic Substrates: Do not wash asphaltic substrates before application. Discoloration or blistering may occur over some of them, and coloured silicones (grey, tan, black) must not be used over asphalt.
- Metal & Cracks: Remove rust and scale from metal with a wire brush and abrade slick pre-finished metal. Sacrificial tape is recommended for cracks over 6.4 mm and for all cracks that move.
Application Specifications:
- Application Methods: Power mix before use (do not use a paint shaker) and do not thin. Apply by brush, trowel or putty knife as received.
- Application Geometry: Minimum 3.2 mm wet thickness, spread at least 76 mm in all directions from the affected area.
- Temperature Windows: Do not apply to substrates below freezing or above 49°C. Below 4°C ambient, keep the product stored above 18°C until application.
